Villa Arbitus is situated on the Lipsopirgos peninsula on the south coast of Lefkas.
You can get an overview of where the island fits into the Ionion here...
Note: the Google map only shows the paved roads - there is also a very good
roadmap...(opens in a new window) which shows many of the 'farm roads'.

Round about:
The nearest beach, 'Baby Beach' on account of its size, is about 5 mins drive down the track, maybe 15 - 20 mins walk.
The main beach (another couple of minutes) is in Amoussa Bay (with recliners and umbrellas
available free of charge) where there is also an excellent taverna with great home cooking.
The nearest shops are in Marantochori
(about 6kms) and Vasiliki, the main town and port, is about 12kms. Vasiliki has a host of
restaurants and cafes around the harbour and 2 large supermarkets.
Very popular with sailors and windsurfers - it hums in the evenings.

Getting there:
There are various ways of getting to Villa Arbutus - the most straight-forward is to fly directly into Preveza Airport
(strictly called Aktion Airport) and then pick up a hire car. Charter flights are available
from Gatwich and Manchester and fly on Saturdays and/or Sundays.
An alternative is to fly into Corfu by EasyJet or one of the charter companies, take a ferry to Igoumenitsa and pick up a hire car there - you're looking at about 2 hours to the villa.
You could also fly into Athens by EasyJet, Olympic Air or Aegean Airlines at quite reasonable prices. There is a regularly coach service from Kifisou Bus Station in Athens to Lefkas Town (about 5 hours), you could pick up a hire car at the airport and it's about 6 hours to the villa, or take an Olympic Air internal flight to Aktion/Preveza.
The really green option is to travel by train to Venice or Ancona and take a ferry to Igoumenitisa
- 24hrs from Venice, overnight from Ancona. You'll need to allow a little longer.

Car Hire:
You will need some form of transport - and the last couple of kms are off-road. Plenty of
people drive these roads in ordinary cars but a jeep is probably the better bet - especially
if you want to explore the whole network of tracks which make up a second road system. You don't need 4-wheel drive
(except, perhaps, in the winter) but the clearance in a Jeep is reassuring.
All the usual suspects have offices in Lefkas Town. Alex & Christos (tel: 0030 26450 31580, fax: 0030 26450 31780) are
based in Vasiliki and will leave a vehicle for you at Aktion (or the bus station in Lefkas).
